I’m here I’m here!

emme1009

So yes, I am still alive and still in Second Life and I feel ridiculous for having to post another ’so here’s what happened’ post but really- life has been crazy, real life of course, not Second Life beacuse it has been all but non existent right now. I got a job just in time for my unemployment to run out, thankfully for my friends who are still jobless they are able to keep collecting but as for myself I think that was the last extension I was entitled to. Which is fine with me, although it took a bit of time having to adjust to waking up early and going to bed early (not that early) for me, I managed to get a pretty good time schedule, I mean, my days off are a bit funky but basically I work from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm with Sundays and Tuesdays off. And I am working back in the dealership world. I work for a Honda Dealership now, which is great since we are pretty busy. So by the time I get home I’m exhausted and I only have time for minor shopping trips and hanging out with my wifeys.

Hopefully I don’t forget to renew my domain so I don’t lose everything. Bye for now!

So here’s what happened…

Hi, remember me? Yes, I’m still around but there’s an explanation as to why I’ve gone missing. First of all- it’s summer time and I’ve actually been out doing stuff, even though it’s been like 120 degrees outside. Second- I got Sims 3! Yes, I know, it’s been out for over a month now and I still am so crazy about it, it’s really fun and I’ve passed the ‘playing all day and all night’ phase, Third- I’m still looking for a job, the economy has really hit hard, I still can’t find a job no matter how many places I’ve been applying, and while I would rather not work at another dealership they’re the one who are really interested in hiring so I’ve gone back to applying even there. Mostly import dealers now though, I’m weary of working at Ford or GM again, but technically Chrysler is owned by Fiat now so maybe I’ll apply to the handful of dealerships they still have. Fourth- my dad was injured at work, so I’ve been having to do more around the house, take him to some appointments and take care of getting my brother to and from school, basically my schedule revolves around what everyone else needs, dad’s getting better though so things should be back to normal on that front soon. Lastly- I’ve been up to my knees in computers that have been glitching, breaking or just being plain stupid. These past two months alone I’ve had to reformat one computer, fix the laptop in the living room and basically tear down my old Dell XPS, which I’m pissed off about since I paid so much for it. Well, in the midst of all the breaking computers, my own computer- the newest one in the house had some sort of attack and Photoshop got all messed up. I’ve finally fixed it though (yay!) and I think I got my inspiration back. So things should be back to normal soon enough, or as normal as things are for me.

Oh another thing that has kept me away from my blog and my whole online life- Top Gear. Yes, Top Gear- for those not in the know I’ve been catching up on the show Top Gear (Google it, you’ll love it) which I’ve seen clips off ocassionally but I started watching them with my family on BBC America. I even purchased the last 3 seasons from iTunes (don’t do that btw- they’re edited down to like 45 minutes and you miss some funny stuff!) and then I downloaded the rest of the series which I have been unable to find on DVD. It’s more than just a car show really, even if you’re not that into cars or don’t care for them, you can still watch Top Gear and be entertained. I highly recommend it.

So that’s basically it, I’ll be back to posting pics and updating my flickr soon enough and maybe even upgrade my account to premium again.

Store Reviews

A new feature on my blog- Store Reviews- I know it’s not a new concept, but none the less I often stumble upon stores while traveling the grid and I wanted to be able to write and share these new finds with you. As well as tell you about the places that I would gladly spend my lindens. You might have guessed that I am a shopaholic, in real life I love spending money on technology and gadgets, okay and shoes. Those are my big passions in Real Life- in Second Life however I love skins, clothes and shoes. Since I started SL in 2003 there’s been an explosion of stores, there’s so many places to shop now that it’s often hard to find a style that’s ‘you’. This is how this category came about. Me, sharing my loves and my style with you. Hope you enjoy the posts to come!

The Sweetest Song

So at the beginning of this year, Amazon had a big sale on albums, $5 each, so my brother and I stocked up, one of the CD’s he purchased was the new Snow Patrol one. Once I heard this song I just thought it was so incredibly sweet and content sounding. Whatcha think?

The winters mar the Earth
It’s floor was frozen glass
You slip into my arms
And you quickly correct yourself
Your freezing speech bubbles
Seem to hold your words aloft
I want the smoky clouds of laughter
To swim about me forever more

I will race you to the waterside
And from the edge of Ireland shout out loud
So they could hear it in America
It’s all for you

The shells crack under our shoes
Like punctuation points
The planets bend between us
A hundred million suns and stars
The sea filled in this silence
Before you sank those words
And now even in the darkness
I can see how happy you are

I will race you to the waterside
And from the edge of Ireland shout out loud
So they could hear it in a America
It’s all for you

It’s all for you (x5)

Hockey!

So not many of you know that I’m a hockey fan, yes the asian girl who grew up half her life overseas who lives in California, is a hockey fan. I actually started watching it in middle school. I love the history, the fans, and part of me also admires the fact that you have to play the sport whilst trying to balance yourself on ice. Besides that, I found baseball, basketball and football really boring. Football is great, I’ve been to plenty of Raiders games, that is an experience all it’s own. I’ve yet to see a hockey game but hopefully in 2009 that’s something I’ll be doing.

I’m a huge Sharks fan, I couldn’t believe it when they finally got a team in San Jose. Of course those first few years were somewhat embarassing, having to play in the Cow Palace- which I realized after seeing a game on iTunes that other announcers have yet to forget about, and just basically having one of the worst records in the NHL for a long time. But of course that’s changed, every year they’ve continuously gotten better and better and I really do believe this is their year. Oh I hope I don’t jinx it, and I hope they don’t choke like many a Bay Area teams have done before. They’re currently first in their division, and I’m optimistic even if the season is only half done.

So back to the reason for my posting. The All Star Game. Something that’s been going on every year since 1947 and more informally there have been All Star Benefit games since 1908. You can read about it on Wikipedia. This year it’s being held in Montreal since the Canadiens are celebrating their 100th birthday. So here’s my pitch to get more people to vote, I of course have voted for my favorite Sharks, you can vote for you favorites, but if you could spare a vote, write in one for Devin Setoguchi, one of the forwards from the Sharks. I really think he deserves to represent San Jose this year. Oh and write in Tim Thomas as goalie for the East Coast, that’s just wrong that they didn’t even include the goalie for the top team on the East Coast!

Crap in my bag!

So here’s the link to the Flickr Pic – My Purse’s Contents. That has notes on what’s actually contained in my bag. I did a second picture cuz on Plurk it was mentioned that it was too neat. So I just dumped it on the bed and it was messy and 2 receipts popped out but generally I keep it pretty clean. Having the little bags helps too though cuz those are where the little things are kept.

So I’ll go over what I have been carrying in my bag:

Top Row:

Blackberry 8830- my lifeline, keeps me connected to everything, it’s spoiled me, I can’t go back to a regular cell phone now.

Samsung Gleam- Cute phone, it’s just a phone but it has this neat moving wallpaper stuff and it’s shiny. It was one of the first shiny phones I saw.

Candy- 2 Twizzlers and 2 See’s Chocolate Lollipops.

iPod Classic (silver) and an Pentel R.S.V.P pen- I had to have the 160 iPod when it first came out, only problem is now I can’t downgrade and the pens are my favorite kind. I got into the habit of using them when I worked for the Ford dealership, they’re a lil more expensive that plain old pens but they write better IMO.

Bose Headphones- I <3 these. Helps tune out everything on a long drive. They really do work too, I’d definately recommend these if you’ll be around children. They work awesome lol!

Middle Row:

Bronzer, Shine Remover Power, and Glow Lotion- I’ve always kept these in my purse cuz it makes me look so golden haha, plus in the summer time with the heat I get shiny looking.

Wallet- under the last 3 things is my wallet, I just it for christmas from my aunt, well actually I got a blue one but my other aunt had a blue purse so she traded me for this one, which I like. The only problem is that it doesn’t have a compartment for coins, which is not necessarily a bad thing cuz coins just make your wallet all bulge-y.

Lighter- I keep the smokes in the car.

Gum & Notebook- I like to write to do list, it actually helps me to remember stuff better, and the gum, well I like gum too. Normally I chew the Ice Breakers Cubes but my dad takes all those.

Hairbrush- I think that one doesn’t need explaining.

Hair clips, sunglasses and a scrunchie- Gotta keep those handy cuz my hair is long and it irritates me, oh and I rarely wear the sunglasses cuz I’ve been wearing my glasses lately instead of contacts.

Bottom Row:

Makeup bag- contains the simple essentials. I normally do my makeup before I leave the house and if ever I do need to do my makeup on the run I have a large makeup bag I can take with me. In this bag are 1 lipstick, 3 lip pencils, 1 eye pencil, 2 compacts, 1 lip liner and 4, yes 4 mascaras.

Smaller bag- this bag contains 2 bottles of eyedrops (one which is more expensive that I got into using while living in Japan), toothpicks, contact lens case and chapstick.

Flashlight- I’ve had this for a few years now but basically my dad likes flashlights and this is a really good one, it has a blue light so everything seems so much brighter and it’s come in handy on more than one ocassion.

Medicine Container- this thing actually opens up and there’s a large compartment on one side and several compartments on the other. It contains my allergy pills, cold medicine, vitamins, Aleve, and some pain pills, Darvocets I think. I dunno, haven’t taken them in awhile.

Oh yes and then there’s the bag I’m using to carry everything. I got it just before the holidays from Sears I think. I just needed something roomy so I could carry extra clothes if I needed, or just extra things in general. It’s not brown, it’s more of a dark greenish color, okay maybe greenish brow. It was 10$ so I love it even more lol.

So that’s all for now!

Consistent Blogging Fail!

So I was suppose to be blogging every day, outfits and such, mostly outfits. Well I did one day, proclaimed by new fondness for blogging and then promptly forgot about it the next day. Actually by the time I did remember about it, my blog was borked, and I couldn’t even access it til late last night.

I totally blame Nexeus. I’ll give it a few days maybe and then start blogging outfits again or think of a new system. I’ll probably be back sooner rather than later.

Off to brain storm!

Mind the Mess

So for the upteenth time I’ve decided to overhaul my blog. Basically awhile ago I decided it might be better to seperate all my blogs, one for personal, another for skins, and this one which was suppose to be strictly Second Life and all it’s related to. Then I realized that instead of simplifying my life, it was just plain ole work and was confusing, so now I’m going to consolidate them again, which means re-organizing and on top of that I have a new blog design. Typically my blog designs have always been 3 columns and now I’m using only 2. I have decided I like the look and feel of this one, can customize the header and it has features I love, such as the contact form on the top.

I think it will all look alot better, will be easier to navigate and in the end I’ll perhaps even feature more things such as actual reviews lol.

Happy Halloween

Just wanted to send out a quick post to everyone to tell you Happy Halloween, hope you all had a safe, fun and candy filled day!

Dreaming of You

So lately, within the past few months I haven’t had any real ‘vivid’ dreams at least none that involved people I actually knew. They were just your typical weird dreams. I just woke up from a dream about Scott. For some background, Scott is my former manager at the last dealership I worked at and we used to flirt alot and blah blah blah. I haven’t spoken to him since I was laid off and I kind of have no desire to really.

In the dream I’m working and he shows up and apparently works with me too. I play it cool like I always have with him, not really acknowledging him but friendly at the same time. There was hugging and the usual flirting, then at some point he comes in late and is talking to some other woman at work. So I come up and start digging through his wallet (don’t you do that with all your co-workers? LOL) and make a remark about his debit card or something. Something along the lines of- oh I wish I had access to your bank account because you’re a manager and make more money than I do. At that point he said I have my own card and to give him back his. Yeah that basically floored me and the implications of a relationship with a share bank account shocked me enough to wake me up.

I’m not quite sure it’s the idea of having a relationship with him or the implied access to lots of cashola shocked me more, I should have looked to see what kinda car I had LOL

Arrrg! Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!

My pirate name is:
Bloody Morgan Flint

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it’s the open sea. For others (the masochists), it’s the food. For you, it’s definitely the fighting. Like the rock flint, you’re hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you’re easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

The Fridge Restocking Fairy

So if you’re special enough to know about my personal life, you’d know that currently my brother is living away from home at the moment. He’s living in Berkeley, at my aunt and uncle’s house, while he’s interning at the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund. Which is interesting to him, because he’s legally blind. Yes, my brother got his awesomeness from me, he’s starting his second year of law school in August as well as hopefully interning with the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. Well, the point in all my rambling is that while he’s living away from home, my mother still purchases food and stuff for him, he’s quite a picky eater and I guess she feels bad lol. So every now and then when I visit I bring along food and snacks for him. It’s 5 a.m. now and I’ve just arrived in Berkeley and restocked their fridge full of food. Not just for him but for everyone. So that got me thinking about my family.

Everyone knows I’m very close to my family. My father’s side mostly, because my mother’s family lives in the Philippines still, or in Southern California. So basically far away. My dad’s family- my grandmother, my aunts and uncle live in the Bay Area. My 2 aunts, uncle and cousin actually live in the same group of townhouses that my grandmother lives in, which she’s lived in since 1979. So this is where my family congregates most weekends, with my exception of my folks since my dad works nights and doesn’t have the weekends off. I usually pop in at unusual hours though, they’ve woken up numerous times to me just watching tv on their couch haha. Being that it’s 80miles away (an hour and a half drive usually), and that gas is like $4.50 a gallon now, I come here every other week or once a month now. In high summer when the temperature at home is easily over 105 or so I’m down here ALOT.

My whole point in all of this rambling is that it’s nice to have somewhere to go where you’re guaranteed to find family and just have a second home. Like my personal version of a family compound, without the crazy cult-ish feel. It’s like your favorite neighborhood bar where you’re always welcome, but with not as much drinking, people gotta drive home ya know? So I’m greatful for it, I love being here. It’s home.

Just an update…

So after some research, I found out it was not my power supply it was indeed my motherboard that needed replacing, it’s gonna cost $300 for another one. I guess I was running my computer pretty hard, eek. Well either way, I ordered a new computer on friday while I try to decide whether or not to keep my gaming PC or to suck it up and pay for the new motherboard. Apparently it’s been happening alot lately to these damn things. I might just get a new gaming PC though, yay, depends on whether or not I get a job sooner or later. I made sure my new non gaming PC has a good enough video card and everything to play SL so I should be good for a lil bit longer. No more killing computers though, or I might break Nyte’s record for computer killed. HAHA!

Hellish Week

So basically this week has been C.R.A.P. It started off on Sunday when I had to take my brother back to Berkeley, we left at around 10:30 p.m and expected to be in Berkeley at a little after midnight. Yes, I drive really late, I’m used to it. Oh yes, and I was planning on staying a couple of days in Berkeley to hang out with my family and I was bringing Jack with me, who is Jack? Jack is my delightful, orange tabby kitty who everyone adores. So we initially had Jack in the carrier and he was fine with it, and then…almost to the half way point of our trip traffic. Yes, traffic, at 11:30 p.m, there was traffic. Not there-a-bit-of-a-slowdown traffic but oh-my-god-those-people-are-walking-faster-than-we’re-moving traffic. Not that there were people on the freeway, just saying. Luckily we used to live in the area and I knew a detour so we were planning on exiting and taking that route but then, things got a lil worse. Jack started crying, and at first I thought it was because he didn’t like the windows open in the car and all the noise, well soon, we realized what it was, smelled is more like it. Poor little Jack had an accident in this crate. So when we pulled over to take our detour, I also had to clean up my cat. So we ended up not even getting to Berkeley until almost 1:30 and my poor brother was so tired and he had work the next day. Then that night I couldn’t get my aunt’s computer to allow me to install Second Life so I never was able to log in until the next evening.

So I finally got home last night, my uncle dropped me off in my car so he could take my car for the rest of the week, well when we were in it he heard a noise. A bad noise. Like my bearings are going out, so now I’m not allowed to drive my car at night by myself for long distances. So after getting home all I wanted to do was go on the internet, hang out, catch up on some things I missed and just be blah. NOPE! Internet was not working. I spent all night fixing it and finally came to the conclusion that we need a new router. Ironically, I just gave away an extra router I had…hmm. Well, I had my computer connected to the internet and was finally able to log in for awhile and decided to catch some z’s. I woke up on Thursday night, and my computer was dead. The electricity had gone out while I was sleeping and now my computer turns on, stays on for 2 or 3 seconds and then DIES. I think it’s the power supply thing but we’ll see. My brother is coming home this weekend, with my uncle and so I think between the 3 of us we can fix it. It’s not an old computer either, I love it and the main reason I spent so much monies on it was so that it would last longer and I could just upgrade it when I was ready and not have to replace it for awhile. It’s Friday now, so I’m stuck on my laptop for another day, at least I had the laptop. So wish me luck! Maybe I’ll have my main comp fixed soon.

Bleh.
